The Parents' Association was set up in 1977 with the aims of encouraging a greater social and educational awareness among parents, to promote links between parents and teachers, and to organise social and fund-raising events, so that extra items could be provided for the benefit of the pupils.
MEMBERSHIP
Full membership is open to all parents or guardians of pupils at the school, and associate membership to those teachers who are not eligible for full membership.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS
The Annual General Meeting of the Association is held early in the Autumn Term each year and the membership elects the Committee for the following twelve months. Committee members serve a two year term of office and the Chairperson and Office Bearers are elected by the Committee from among its members.
PARENT GOVERNORS
The Parents' Association is also responsible for electing three parent governors to represent parents on the Board of Governors. Governors serve for a term of four years and are also members of the Parents' Association Committee. Only those parents who have children attending the school may be eligible for election as a Parent Governor.
FUND RAISING & SOCIAL EVENTS
During the year the Parents' Association organises a number of social functions, and Information Evenings are arranged for parents and children. Parents are invited to subscribe to the Association during the academic year.
FORGING LINKS
Parents are welcome to events organised by the PA and the Committee welcomes ideas and input from members. This is an excellent way to meet other parents and to become involved in the life of the school. If you would like to find out more about the Parents' Association or raise any points of interest during the school year, please contact the Chairperson or any member of the Committee.
ACTIVITIES 2007-2008
In the past year the Parents' Association has concentrated on raising funds to provide a second minibus for the school.
